About Rebuilding Together Greater Florida (RTGFL)
Rebuilding Together Greater Florida (formerly Rebuilding Together Tampa Bay) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to repairing homes, revitalizing communities, and rebuilding lives.
Serving over 21 counties across Florida, RTGFL provides safe and healthy housing for low-income homeowners, seniors, veterans, and families in need. Through home rehabilitation, disaster recovery programs, and community revitalization initiatives, we help ensure homeowners can remain safely in the homes they love.
Position Overview
The Construction Coordinator helps manage residential repair and rehabilitation projects from initial home assessment through final inspection and project completion.
This role requires a balance of field visits and project coordination, including evaluating homes, verifying scopes of work, monitoring construction progress, coordinating contractors, and ensuring projects meet program and funding requirements.
The Construction Coordinator works closely with the Regional Construction Manager and District Program team to ensure projects remain organized, compliant, and on schedule.
This position also serves as a key field representative for RTGFL, maintaining strong communication with contractors, inspectors, homeowners, and community partners.
What a Typical Week Looks Like
A typical week may include:
- Conducting home assessments to evaluate repair needs, identify safety concerns, and assist with developing scopes of work
- Visiting several homes across the district to monitor active repair projects and verify construction progress
- Meeting with contractors to review scopes of work and address field questions
- Coordinating permits and inspections with local jurisdictions
- Uploading site photos and documenting project progress in internal project tracking systems
- Communicating project updates with program staff and homeowners
- Supporting volunteer build days or community repair projects
No two weeks look exactly the same, but the focus remains consistent: helping ensure homeowners receive safe, high-quality repairs that allow them to remain safely in their homes.
Key Responsibilities
Project Coordination & Field Oversight
- Coordinate assigned home repair and rehabilitation projects from start to completion
- Conduct home assessments and verify scopes of work before project launch
- Visit project sites regularly to monitor progress, quality of work, and safety compliance
- Ensure repairs align with approved scopes, budgets, and program requirements
Contractor & Construction Management
- Coordinate contractors, schedules, and site readiness for upcoming projects
- Work with contractors to address field issues and maintain project timelines
- Support permitting and coordinate required inspections with local jurisdictions
- Track material orders, invoices, and construction-related expenses
Documentation & Project Tracking
- Maintain organized project documentation and progress updates
- Upload site photos, inspection notes, and project reports into internal systems such as SharePoint and Salesforce
- Assist with tracking project budgets and funding compliance requirements
Homeowner & Community Engagement
- Serve as the primary field contact for homeowners during construction projects
- Communicate project updates and timelines clearly with homeowners
- Help coordinate volunteer build days and community repair events
- Support volunteers and staff during community build projects when needed
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in residential construction, home rehabilitation, construction coordination, or related field
- Working knowledge of construction practices, permitting processes, and inspections
- Strong organization, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities
- Experience using Microsoft Office 365 and project tracking systems (Salesforce or similar platforms preferred)
- Ability to work collaboratively with contractors, homeowners, and internal teams
Additional Requirements
- Valid Florida driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of auto insurance
- Willingness to travel throughout the Southwest District for home visits and project oversight
- Ability to work outdoors and navigate active residential construction sites
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds and perform basic site inspections
Work Environment
This position is a hybrid field and office role, typically splitting time between visiting homes and managing project coordination tasks.
Field visits include active residential construction sites where conditions may involve heat, dust, uneven terrain, and other typical construction environments. Administrative work may be completed in the office or remotely depending on project needs.
