MES Engineer

Cates Controls Systems is headquartered in Wylie, TX and is looking to hire a MES Engineer . The role involves leading project execution from concept to commissioning across a wide range of automation systems, including hands‑on design, programming, implementation, and optimization of control and MES systems. The engineer will mentor junior staff and guide teams through complex automation challenges. Why Join Us? Develop and manage database design, data modeling, and administration. Optimize SQL queries and troubleshoot stored procedures. Set standards for database operations, programming, query processes, and security; model, design, and construct large relational databases or data warehouses. Identify changes in scope and notify the Project Manager promptly. Assist in control system design (I/O and motor lists, P&IDs, etc.). Develop approaches to solve problems and handle customer demands, changes, and complaints. Guide less experienced employees technically. Contribute broad technical competence, superior communication, correspondence, and mediation skills. Assist in managing project resources, schedule, budget, and scope. Provide input and resolve issues during estimating and fabrication processes. Create functional requirements specifications with FAT and SAT plans. Develop MES systems and procedures for customers to meet their needs. Design and develop database structures and systems to integrate into control and process systems. This position will require about 50% travel, both domestic and international. Education and Experience BS Degree in Engineering or equivalent in automation. Ten years of related experience. Multiple major automation provider certifications or Professional Engineer license. Soft Skills Leadership training and ability to lead teams. Excellent communication skills. Ability to read and modify electrical schematics, PFDs, and P&IDs. Strong communication skills and ability to incorporate high‑performance teams of diverse individuals. Can set direction for an entire project team. Excellent customer service skills with a proven record of high client satisfaction. Requires only periodic direction from the Project Manager. Completes tasks on schedule and complies with organizational rules, procedures, and policies. Facilitates early resolution of issues by involving appropriate colleagues, managers, or customers.
