Job Description Summary Performs ultrasound procedures at the entry level requiring knowledge of anatomical positioning and physiology. Must be able to perform high-quality ultrasound examinations for interpretation by a physician on children, adolescents and adults. Qualifications 0–1 year of experience in performing ultrasound diagnostic procedures. Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or equivalent; must obtain certification within the first year of employment if not already certified. Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire; must maintain current BLS certification (AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers or American Red Cross CPR/AED). Physical Requirements Ability to perform job functions while standing (continuous). Ability to perform job functions while sitting (infrequent). Ability to perform job functions while walking (continuous). Ability to climb ladders/step stools (frequent to infrequent). Ability to work indoors (continuous). Ability to work from elevated areas—specifically step stools (frequent to infrequent). Ability to work in confined/cramped spaces (infrequent). Ability to perform job functions from kneeling positions (frequent). Ability to bend at the waist, twist at the waist, squat and perform job functions (frequent). Ability to perform pinching operations (frequent). Ability to fully use both hands/arms (continuous). Ability to perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders (continuous). Ability to fully use both legs (continuous). Ability to reach in all directions (continuous). Possess good finger dexterity (continuous). Ability to maintain tactile, olfactory, vision, hearing, and auditory acuity as specified. Ability to lift and carry up to 200 pounds unassisted and lift patients up to 350 pounds assisted; lift objects from floor to 72 inches, to 50 pounds unassisted, and lower objects to 50 pounds unassisted. Ability to push/pull objects or patients to 350 pounds unassisted. Muscle ambidexterity and excellent hand‑to‑eye coordination. Ability to be qualified for respirator use by medical personnel initially and annually. Ability to use hand/power tools and work in dusty areas. Additional Requirements Ability to deal effectively with stressful situations. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Computer literacy. Ability to work overtime as required. Ability to learn and use new processes, tools, and equipment as required. Additional Job Description Education: Graduation from an accredited school of Diagnostic Medical Sonography. Work Experience: 1 year of modality‑specific experience preferred. Registration/Certification: Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or ARRT(S) eligible, must obtain certification within 12 months. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
