Biologist for AI Benchmark Authoring and Review

Role Overview

Develop and review rigorous academic biology assessments that help establish high-quality benchmarks for AI research. This fully remote, asynchronous role focuses on producing challenging multiple-choice questions, evaluating solution quality, and maintaining clear, accurate standards across specialized biology topics.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete either question-authoring or question-verification assignments.
• Create original, challenging multiple-choice questions within your biology specialty and submit them for review.
• Review existing questions for scientific accuracy, clarity, rigor, completeness, precision, and solvability; revise them when needed and document the rationale for changes.
• Write questions that assess deep conceptual understanding rather than surface-level recall, with all necessary information included in the prompt.
• Assign a difficulty level to each question: Medium, introductory undergraduate; Hard, advanced undergraduate; or Expert, postgraduate and above.
• Provide one correct answer and nine plausible, subtly incorrect alternatives designed to challenge expert-level solvers.
• Prepare clear, concise, step-by-step solutions with intermediate reasoning in Markdown format.
• Include one to five academic references per question from reputable sources, such as peer-reviewed journals or university repositories.

Qualifications

• PhD or current doctoral candidacy in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Neuroscience, or a closely related field.
• A master''s degree may be considered for candidates with exceptional depth in a specific biology subdomain.
• Strong graduate-level understanding of biological concepts, experimental design, and data interpretation.
• Research publications or laboratory experience in biological sciences is strongly valued.
• Excellent written English and the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and concisely.

Work Terms

• Remote, asynchronous hourly engagement.
• Expected commitment of at least 10 hours per week.

Compensation

• $60 to $75 per hour.
