This role, based near Jamaica, NY, is ideal for an enthusiastic Special Education Teacher who can make math accessible and engaging for middle school learners. Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification (required)
- Background in teaching middle school math concepts and curriculum
- Strong classroom management skills with a nurturing, supportive approach
- Ability to create accommodating lesson plans and modify instruction to address diverse learning needs
- Proven success working collaboratively with colleagues, families, and support services
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach and support middle school students in math within a special education setting, adapting lessons as needed
- Assess individual student needs, abilities, and progress, utilizing data to inform instructional approaches
- Create and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) with measurable goals tailored to each student
- Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation and growth
- Collaborate closely with general education teachers, counselors, and related service providers
- Maintain accurate records and participate in meetings pertaining to student progress and compliance
