Turbomachinery Design Engineer At Air Products, we reimagine what’s possible. As a Turbomachinery Design Engineer you will perform a wide range of design analyses and support product development for turbomachinery components. Perform turbomachinery design analyses including FEA (stress, deflection, modal) and rotordynamics; conduct hand calculations. Develop standardized product deliverables in collaboration with Product Owners. Execute mechanical design tasks for project and product development initiatives and aftermarket activities. Communicate with vendors on technical solutions and support root cause analyses (RCA) of equipment and field commissioning. Drive engineering and material cost reductions and competitiveness across project and product offerings. Collaborate with customers to ensure proper design integration of equipment into processes. Select components and materials for turbomachinery and systems. Perform safety and operability reviews. Collaborate with subject‑area experts to finalize equipment designs and approve manufacturing drawings. Support bid estimate development and work with the Business Improvement Team to streamline processes. Challenge norms with alternate engineering solutions and promote safety and diversity. Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; advanced degree with a focus on turbomachinery design, rotordynamics, fluid film bearings, design for manufacturability, or manufacturing processes preferred. 10‑15 years of turbomachinery or rotating‑machinery design experience. Strong analytical, problem‑solving, time‑management, and decision‑making skills. Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, presentation). Advanced FEA capabilities and experience with fluid‑film, gas, magnetic, hydrostatic, and rolling‑element bearing applications preferred. Rotordynamic analysis, turbine testing, data acquisition and evaluation, 2D CAD and 3D modeling, and simulation skills preferred. Programming skills in VB, C#, C+, Python, Matlab, Fortran, or similar languages preferred. Robust interpersonal skills, collaborative mindset, and a passion for motivating teams. Develop and execute the enterprise PD&I strategy aligned with HR and business priorities. Own the People Analytics product portfolio and roadmap; prioritize work based on business impact and employee experience. Enable advanced and AI‑driven analytics capabilities in Workday and the enterprise data ecosystem with strong governance. Oversee configuration, delivery, and support of Workday People Analytics and Prism capabilities; automate standard reporting and support self‑service tools. Partner with HR business partners and stakeholders to translate workforce and talent questions into actionable insights and improve data accessibility. Manage delivery and analytics offerings, establish SLAs, reduce ad‑hoc reporting volume, and act as an analytics product owner. Implement HR data governance and reliability practices; manage data preparation, metric definitions, cleansing processes, and centralized talent repositories. Lead, coach, and develop the PD&I team to build analytics, visualization, consulting, storytelling, and HR domain expertise. Ensure compliance with workforce reporting and regulatory requirements.
