ED RN

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) provides skilled nursing care in a fast-paced adult community emergency department, managing a variety of acute medical conditions including stroke, STEMI, sepsis, respiratory and cardiac diseases, and orthopedic cases. The RN is responsible for patient assessments, emergency interventions, and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure high-quality care. Strong emergency nursing skills, IV and line management, cardiac and airway management capabilities, and excellent customer service are essential. A minimum of 3 years of experience in emergency nursing is preferred. Responsibilities:

• Perform patient assessments and monitor vital signs in the emergency department setting.
• Administer medications and treatments as ordered by physicians.
• Manage IV insertions, PICC and central lines, and maintain line integrity.
• Obtain and interpret 12-lead EKGs, perform tele-interpretation, cardioversion, and defibrillation as needed.
• Provide airway management including procedural sedation, CPAP/BiPAP, ventilator support, and tracheostomy care.
• Deliver emergency nursing care for a broad spectrum of adult patients with acute medical and trauma conditions.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and discharge planning.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care and interventions.
• Provide outstanding customer service and support to patients, families, and team members.
• Support behavioral health patients and chemical dependency cases as needed.

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in emergency nursing preferred.
• Proficiency in emergency department nursing skills including IV insertion and line management.
• Cardiac skills including 12-lead EKG acquisition and interpretation, cardioversion, and defibrillation.
• Airway management skills including procedural sedation, CPAP/BiPAP, ventilators, and tracheostomy care.
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-admission emergency department environment.

• Experience with behavioral health and chemical dependency patient care.
• Previous experience in trauma or pediatric emergency care.
• Advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) certification.
• Trauma nursing certification (e.g., TNCC) or emergency nursing certification (CEN).

• Work in a fast-paced adult emergency department with high patient acuity and admission rates.
• Manage a nurse-to-patient ratio of approximately 1:3-4.
• Exposure to a variety of emergent medical conditions including stroke, STEMI, sepsis, respiratory and cardiac diseases.
• Shift work with potential for midshift hours (e.g., 1300-0100) and variable scheduling.

• Midshift schedule typically from 1300 to 0100 hours, totaling 36 hours per week.
• Shift assignments may vary based on departmental needs and staffing.
• Work schedule may include weekend and holiday rotations.
