Assistant Teacher

Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent and 48 units of college level coursework or associate's degree or verification of meeting NCLB requirements. Ability to read, write and speak at a level sufficient to fulfill the assigned duties. Ability to communicate with and effectively supervise students. Ability to accept directions and carry out oral and written instructions. Ability to maintain a cooperative working relationship with others. Brief Description of Position: Responsible for assisting in preparing and supervising pupil work areas. Responsible for assisting individual or small groups with assigned activities. Responsible for assisting in checking papers and preparing instructional materials. Responsible for performing such other related duties and clerical work as may be assigned by the principal. Enforces the school rules concerning proper behavior of students. Maintains a firm but respectful and courteous attitude toward students. Perform other related duties as assigned. Other Information: This position is assigned to a Mild to Moderate Learning Center classroom that serves students with mild to moderate disabilities.
