Make a meaningful impact in the lives of students by providing essential support in an after-school environment. Utilize your expertise as an ASL Paraprofessional to foster communication and encourage learning. This contract role offers the opportunity to work across multiple sites near Gridley, CA, making every day both dynamic and rewarding.
In this position, you’ll serve as a vital communication link, assisting students who are deaf or hard of hearing in their educational and social development. Working 2:30-6PM daily, 20-24 hours per week, you’ll help create an inclusive space where every student can thrive.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language is required
- Previous experience supporting children in a school setting as a Paraprofessional or similar role
- Understanding of special education environments is an advantage
- EIPA certification is not required for this role
- Adaptability to rotate between various school sites as needed
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
Responsibilities:
- Support students in after-school activities and academic tasks, ensuring communication accessibility through ASL
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to modify materials and provide clarification for assignments
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and encouraging environment for students
- Supervise student interactions, ensuring safety and engagement
- Assist with individualized support per student needs, promoting independence where possible
