Make a meaningful difference by supporting students as an ASL paraprofessional in an after-school setting. This contract position is ideal for someone passionate about assisting learners and fluent in American Sign Language. You’ll work 20-24 hours weekly, from 2:30-6:00 PM, providing valuable guidance and communication support across various school sites.
Skills and Experience Sought:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is required
- Previous experience working in a school environment as a paraprofessional or aide preferred
- Comfortable working with students in group and one-on-one situations
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
- Ability to travel to multiple sites locally
- EIPA certification not required; all dedicated ASL users welcome
In this flexible role, your responsibilities will include:
- Facilitating clear communication between students and staff using sign language
- Assisting with classroom activities and homework support in the after-school program
- Providing individual or small group support to students with varying needs
- Helping maintain a positive, inclusive, and respectful learning environment
- Collaborating with teachers and other paraprofessionals for student success
- Supporting routine program activities and adapting to various settings as needed
