Job Title: Teardown Operator
Job Description
Operate automated conveyor lines and testing equipment to build, assemble, and tear down quality pumps while following detailed work instructions and production standards. Support daily production by handling materials, inspecting components, and repairing defective parts to ensure consistent product quality for customers.
Responsibilities
- Follow detailed work instructions to operate all parts of the automated conveyor line and testing equipment used in pump assembly and teardown.
- Build and assemble pumps according to specifications, ensuring each unit meets quality and performance standards.
- Learn and apply proper gauging techniques to inspect products as required, ensuring accurate measurements and compliance with tolerances.
- Move materials and parts within the cell work area in a safe and organized manner and replenish stock to maintain continuous production flow.
- Maintain accurate production, quality, and equipment documentation as required, including recording counts, defects, and equipment status.
- Understand and respond to quality alerts, promptly reporting issues to the team lead and supporting corrective actions.
- Repair defective or rejected production parts on a daily basis to minimize scrap and rework.
- Analyze defects and contribute to corrective action programs by identifying potential root causes and improvement opportunities.
- Work effectively around various machines, including equipment utilizing hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, welding, hand tools, and assembly tools.
- Adhere to all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment, and maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Lift and handle pumps and related components, including physically lifting up to 40 lbs to stack products for shipping.
- Support production needs across different shifts as required and maintain reliable attendance to meet a 7-days-per-week operating schedule.
Essential Skills
- with at least 2 years of recent experience in a production worker, machine operator, or assembler role.
- Consistent work history with strong tenure in previous manufacturing positions.
- Hands-on assembly experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to operate and work around production equipment, including machines that use hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, welding, hand tools, and assembly tools.
- Ability to learn and perform product gauging and inspection tasks accurately.
- Capability to lift and move up to 40 lbs, including lifting pumps and placing them at the station for stacking and shipping.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal work instructions.
- Ability to understand quality alerts and communicate issues promptly to the team lead.
- Basic documentation skills to maintain production, quality, and equipment records.
- Willingness and ability to work 7 days a week according to assigned shift schedules.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Gauge experience and familiarity with using gauges for measurement and inspection.
- Experience working in an automotive or automotive supplier environment.
- Comfort working with a variety of industrial machines and tools, including hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical equipment.
- Strong problem-solving mindset to assist with defect analysis and corrective action programs.

Work Environment
Work in a newly renovated manufacturing plant located in Warren that has transitioned from a previous facility and supports major automotive programs, including work with leading automotive manufacturers. The facility operates as a global automotive supplier of pump, valvetrain, transmission, and electric drive components and systems. The plant features a variety of industrial machines and equipment, including hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, welding equipment, hand tools, and assembly tools. You will work on automated conveyor lines and testing equipment in a production cell environment. The operation runs multiple schedules, including 8-hour shifts (1st shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, 2nd shift: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM, 3rd shift: 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM) and 10-hour shifts (1st shift: 5:00 AM – 3:30 PM, 2nd shift: 3:00 PM – 1:30 AM), with the expectation of working 7 days per week. The workplace emphasizes safety, providing safety glasses, ear plugs, gloves, and an allowance for steel-toe footwear, and follows structured production and quality processes in a fast-paced, industrial environment.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.50/hr.
