Join our dedicated team in the Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU), a 16-bed, 24/7 residential program providing behavioral health and substance use treatment for adults experiencing a mental health crisis. Our compassionate, recovery-focused approach offers crisis intervention, counseling, psychiatric and nursing support, medication management, detoxification services, and comprehensive discharge planning in a safe and supportive environment.

Deliver comprehensive nursing care to individuals with behavioral health and medical needs. Administer medications, conduct assessments, coordinate treatment plans, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams. Operate with clinical autonomy and ensure compliance with documentation and safety standards.

Essential duties and primary responsibilities include:

• Administer medications and monitor client responses
• Conduct nursing assessments and document findings in electronic health records
• Coordinate treatment plans with physicians, clinicians, and case managers
• Support admissions and discharge processes, including medical evaluations
• Monitor medication inventory and reorder as needed
• Educate clients on health conditions, medications, and wellness practices
• Respond to client concerns and determine appropriate level of care
• Assist with insurance coordination and medication access
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to care planning

Position requirements include:

• Associate degree or two-year technical certificate in nursing
• 1–3 years of experience in behavioral health or medical nursing
• Registered Nurse license from the Virginia Board of Nursing (required)
• CPR and CPI certifications
• Possession of a valid Virginia driver's license and a satisfactory driving record in accordance with agency policy

Preferred qualifications include:

• Experience in psychiatric, detox, or residential settings
• Familiarity with electronic health record systems
• Training in trauma-informed care and motivational interviewing

Knowledge, skills, and abilities include:

• Knowledge of nursing standards, medication protocols, and safety regulations
• Skill in conducting assessments and managing treatment plans
• Skill in communicating effectively with clients and interdisciplinary teams
• Ability to identify potential problems and escalate concerns appropriately
• Ability to learn and retain processes through instruction and apply them independently
• Ability to organize information and maintain accurate records

This role generally performs work under the following conditions:

• Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects, including the human body.
• Close concentration and visual attention required.
• Variable working conditions. The incumbent may be exposed to hazardous physical conditions (including but not limited to the risk from exposure to certain microorganisms, blood born pathogens, bacteria, sick or dangerous animals or people). Staff may frequently encounter high-risk scenarios involving aggressive, self-injurious, or otherwise unsafe behaviors. The role requires intensive behavior management strategies, including physical interventions and crisis response.
