Job Type: Full-Time, Temporary / Contract
Pay: $30-$36/hour
A growing organization in the Brookfield area is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its accounting team. This is a great opportunity for an accounting professional with a few years of experience who is comfortable handling a variety of accounting responsibilities and contributing to the accuracy of financial records and reporting.
Position Overview
The Staff Accountant will support daily accounting operations, assist with month-end close, maintain general ledger accounts, and help ensure financial information is accurate and up to date. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
- Prepare and post journal entries and accruals
- Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
- Prepare financial reports and supporting schedules
- Review transactions and investigate discrepancies
- Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash management activities as needed
- Maintain accurate financial records and documentation
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
- Provide documentation for audit requests
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting procedures and workflows
- Assist with special projects and other accounting duties as needed
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
- 2-5 years of accounting experience
- Solid understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles
- Experience with journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger accounting
- Familiarity with month-end close procedures
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software or an ERP system
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
- Good analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
