We are a growing business looking to bolster our footprint in North America and expand our presence in the market. As such, we are looking for a candidate to serve as Trade Compliance Manager. The Trade Compliance Manager leads the analysis of shipment documents and oversees the data required to clear goods through customs, entering it into the system and obtaining clearances. This role fields classification requests, oversees client product database maintenance, and directs the team’s work, coordinating filings with the FDA, USDA, and Fish and Wildlife. The Trade Compliance Manager communicates customs status to forwarding partners, ensures goods are delivered, and communicates directly with PGAs and USCBP to process clearances and respond to requests. This position also oversees payment coordination when Navia is not the forwarder and provides leadership and quality oversight across the compliance team. Reports to: Director of Customs and Trade Compliance KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Operational Classify goods and build product databases for clients File post summary corrections and recover duties for clients File professional written ruling requests Analyze customs imports and find potential savings in classification, valuation, and FTA analysis. Consult clients on PGA requirements Field classification requests from clients and brokerage teams Build FDA product codes and maintain FDA data sets for drugs, medical devices, and biologics Generate CDC Forms of no permit Prepare Fish and Wildlife data sets and filings Provide USDA permit requirements and data sets Apply for continuous bonds Validate Powers of attorney and upload to the system Maintain TSA records and training Monitor bond and file bond applications. Maintain the client bond list and promote bond sales. Audit files and lead document quality improvement initiatives Accounting Track Billable hours Bill Clients Timely Leadership Provide oversight of brokerage teams to ensure correct classifications Serve as an escalation point for complex classification, valuation, and PGA compliance matters MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 10 years of professional experience in customs and trade compliance, including prior supervisory or team-lead experience Experience with organization, planning, and follow-through Experience classifying a variety of goods, including FDA product code building, Fish and Wildlife data sets, and USDA permits and data sets Experience building FDA data sets for drugs, medical devices, and biologics US Customs Broker License PREFERRED Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Transportation, or Supply Chain Management. JD. Experience in client-facing roles Experiences with other agencies clearances Experience working in Excel Competency in Microsoft Office Competence in Python, VBA, and Java. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The job is performed indoors in a traditional office setting. Activities include extended periods of sitting while working at a computer and occasional fast-paced operations and events. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to communicate orally with customers, vendors, management, and co-workers. Regular use of the telephone, virtual meetings, and e-mail for communication. Hearing, vision, and speaking within normal ranges are essential for normal conversations, receiving ordinary information, and preparing or inspecting documents. Good manual dexterity for operating common office equipment, such as computers, calculators, and copiers.
