Public Relations Manager

As part of the Disneyland Resort Public Relations team, the Public Relations Manager is responsible for the development and execution of strategic communications plans, story ideas, and media pitches as well as cultivation of strong media relationships that will generate positive news coverage and earned media for Disneyland Resort. We are looking for a creative, passionate storyteller who takes pride in the Disney brand, thrives in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment with multiple daily duties, adept in writing press/PR communications and managing PR projects.This position reports to the Senior Manager of Public Relations at the Disneyland Resort. This is a permanent role.What You Will DoDevelop, maintain and leverage media relationships in assigned markets, and work with media (print, digital and broadcast) to successfully pitch and place positive news coverage about Disneyland ResortGenerate creative story ideas that translate into positive news coverage about Disneyland Resort and pitch and host media to attend major press events or one‑off visits and FAMsResearch and respond to media inquiries and develop appropriate responsesExtensive writing (AP style) of press materials with quick deadlines; manage the research, reviews and approvals with appropriate partnersDraft editorial content for owned channels as neededManage distribution planning of press materials, including the Disneyland Resort newsroomManage PR projects as assignedProvide guidance in helping shape and/or determine what is newsworthy and interesting from a Media point of view, working closely with communications partnersMonitor media coverage about DLR and follow up as neededWork closely with other external and internal partners, including Communications/Public Affairs for Disneyland Resort and Disney ExperiencesServe as a Disneyland Resort spokesperson, within Disney guidelinesProvide support with multicultural public relations effortsRequired Qualifications5+ years of experience in Public Relations, Communications, or JournalismExperience partnering effectively with cross‑functional stakeholders and collaborating comfortably with Cast Members at all levels of the organizationExperience working with media, including a demonstrated track record of placing stories and strong knowledge of news markets, news releases, and media production (video, photography)Experience developing communication strategies and storytelling across multiple platforms, including social and digital channelsExperience producing high‑quality written and verbal communications with strong attention to language, messaging, and detail, while meeting tight deadlines with minimal editingExperience writing in Associated Press (AP) styleExperience using content management systems (e.g., WordPress), digital asset management tools, and other digital applications, with the ability to speak confidently about their useExperience managing projects and priorities using project management tools (e.g., Airtable), including communicating effectively under pressureExperience using Microsoft Office 365, including OutlookStrong working knowledge of the Disneyland ResortExperience handling confidential informationAbility to navigate a work schedule that includes occasional nights, weekends, and overnightsPreferred QualificationsExperience working at the Disneyland Resort and/or within Disney ExperiencesExperience in a newsroom, marketing, and/or public relations environmentExperience writing press releases and related external communication materialsExperience managing complex projects and timelines across multiple stakeholdersExperience working with local and regional media, including Disney fan‑site mediaExperience within the travel or hospitality industryMultilingual (Spanish)EducationBachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or related field is requiredAdvanced education, including certifications, is preferredAdditional InformationBenefits and Perks: Disney offers a rewards package to help you live your best life. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
