ABOUT THE POSITION
Environment Texas is seeking a Global Warming Solutions Advocate to work to stop the pollution in Texas fueling the climate crisis. As America’s number one polluter (and the world’s 8th largest, just behind South Korea), Texas is ground zero in the fight to stop burning fossil fuels. Texas has to be central to efforts to decarbonize. As our Global Warming Advocate, you’ll work with Executive Director Luke Metzger to reduce global warming pollution in Texas. Our top priorities are to: ban flaring of methane gas from oil wells close down polluting, coal-burning power plants hold refineries and chemical plants accountable for violations of clean air laws move Texas off of fossil fuels (Learn more about our full climate game plan for Texas at: Environment Texas is a policy and action group with tens of thousands of supporters across the state. Our mission is to protect clean air, clean water and open space. Over the last 15 years we have: Successfully sued four of the state’s biggest polluters, including ExxonMobil, Helped convince the cities of Austin, Houston, and San Antonio to adopt stronger energy efficiency standards and invest in renewable energy and electric vehicles, Helped convince the city of Dallas to effectively ban fracking within city limits, Won voter approval for funding of public transit in Houston and Austin, and Stopped attacks on renewable energy in the Texas Legislature after Winter Storm UriCOMPENSATION
Target annual compensation for this position is commensurate with the relevant professional experience and/or advanced degrees that a candidate has and will range from $32,000 - $50,000.
