Retail Relationship Banker Join us in building something new. This Retail Relationship Banker role supports our DeNovo branch expansion, where you’ll help launch new locations, shape team culture, and drive client growth from day one. Responsibilities Deliver exceptional service to BMO customers and prospects. Identify customer needs and provide advice and guidance regarding financial solutions that are in the best interest of customers. Work collaboratively within the branch and with BMO partners to deliver the desired customer experience and achieve overall business objectives. Lead proactive engagement with existing customers and prospects, providing needs‑based assessments to grow loyalty and identify immediate and future opportunities. Conduct needs assessments that identify financial solutions and preferred banking channels while recommending tailored solutions addressing both sales and service needs (e.g., everyday banking, retail investments, lending solutions, home financing, small business solutions). Offer clients advice and guidance on available digital and self‑serve options with the goal of making banking easy, simple, and fast. Support customer transaction needs based on traffic. Generate appointments and build new relationships within the community. Ensure accurate data entry and lending application recommendations in compliance with legal, regulatory, and lending policies and processes. Apply the risk‑management framework to protect the bank’s assets and maintain portfolio quality. Make credit recommendations for personal lending transactions, including home financing, in accordance with sound credit‑granting principles and BMO’s policies. Collaborate with branch and market team, integrating marketing promotions and programs into customer conversations. Organise work and find creative approaches to make each customer’s experience feel personal. Contribute to ongoing improvement of the overall customer experience. Work at multiple branches or through various channels based on market needs; schedule may differ week to week. Follow risk and compliance processes to safeguard customers’ assets, maintain privacy, and act in their best interest. Keep current with the wider financial services marketplace, legal and regulatory environment, and commitment to uphold the highest ethical standards. Maintain knowledge of personal banking products, practices, and trends, integrating them into customer conversations. Identify and report suspicious patterns related to money laundering. Handle escalations and complex tasks within established rules and limits. Analyze issues and determine next steps. Qualifications Typically 2–3 years of relevant experience or a post‑secondary degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Canada only: registration to sell investment products, appropriate lending qualifications and designations. Working knowledge of personal and small business customer needs and solutions. Working knowledge of retail investments and lending products. Experience in financial services is an asset. Proficiency with social media, tablets, smartphones, online tools, and applications. Experience in a consultative customer‑service or sales role with a drive to deliver a personal customer experience. Passion for helping customers and a focus on results. Ability to thrive in a consultative sales and team‑based environment. Resourceful self‑starter with confidence and courage to approach customers. Readiness to collaborate and work in different capacities as part of a team. Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to build rapport and connections. Attitude for listening, solving problems, and responding flexibly and creatively. Verbal, written, organizational, collaboration, analytical, and problem‑solving skills are good. U.S. only: position will act as an originator of consumer loans and must obtain federal registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry. Compensation and Benefits Salary: $45,900.00 – $75,900.00 per year, salaried. Pay may vary by location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications.
