School Maintenance Worker

Job Overview Incumbent will create and maintain a safe, positive learning environment to ensure the holistic development of each student and staff member through cultural, social, spiritual, physical and academic experience. Incumbent will support the Bureau of Indian Education’s mission, which is to provide high quality education opportunities from early childhood through life while considering a tribe’s need for cultural and economic well‑being. Qualifications Education: High School or GED diploma is required. Level 02 incumbent must have a minimum of one year’s experience in general maintenance or related work, demonstrating skill in at least three skill/craft areas. Physical requirements: Must be able to lift over 50 pounds; must be in excellent physical condition; good distant vision in one eye and ability to read printed material the size of typewritten characters without strain; ability to hear conversational voice, with or without a hearing aid; must be able to stand, stoop, kneel, bend, climb and work for short periods of time in tiring and uncomfortable positions; may be required to climb up and complete work on scaffolds and ladders; may be required to be in a stretched, cramped or awkward position at times. Vision: Good distant vision in one eye and ability to read printed material the size of typewritten characters without strain. Hearing: Ability to hear conversational voice, with or without a hearing aid. Amputation of arm, hand, leg or foot will not disqualify applicants if compensated with satisfactory prosthesis that does not create a safety hazard for self or others. Must have mental and emotional stability. Work Environment Incumbent will perform duties both outdoors and inside buildings, including occasional required work in a stretched, cramped or awkward position. #J-18808-Ljbffr
