This role is responsible for planning, managing, monitoring, and controlling operations to meet financial objectives while driving continuous improvement, lean manufacturing initiatives, and operational excellence.You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Human Resources, Safety, Finance, Sales, and Operations to resolve challenges, implement strategic initiatives, and support plant growth through safe and efficient manufacturing practices. This is a full-time, onsite role located in Chicago, IL.This role is ideal for a results-driven manufacturing leader who excels at building high-performing teams, driving operational improvements, and maintaining strong safety and quality standards.**What You’ll Do*** Create operating plans for current and upcoming production periods to support operational goals and anticipate challenges.* Build and maintain a performance-driven culture focused on accountability, safety, operational metrics, and continuous improvement.* Provide clear organizational direction aligned with corporate goals, objectives, and vision across all plant departments.* Review daily operating reports to identify and resolve operational, manufacturing, and maintenance issues to prevent delays and unnecessary costs.* Collaborate with cross-functional teams including HR, Safety, Finance, and Sales to address operational issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives.* Develop policies, programs, and operational objectives impacting production scheduling, quality, and cost efficiency.* Lead implementation of new manufacturing initiatives, including resource allocation, production systems improvements, and best practice integration.* Hire, coach, develop, monitor, and evaluate employee performance and recommend personnel actions when necessary.* Foster a positive workplace culture by promoting teamwork, strong employee relations, and high morale across all levels of the plant.* Delegate work appropriately and provide clear instructions to ensure tasks are completed safely and in compliance with company procedures and regulatory standards.* Lead and promote healthy and safe work practices as required by regulatory agencies and Company policy.* Perform other duties as assigned.**Who You Are*** 10+ years of experience in a manufacturing leadership role, preferably within ERW steel pipe or tube manufacturing environments.* Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Engineering, or a related technical field preferred, or equivalent experience.* Experience developing and leading high-performing operational teams across multiple organizational levels.* Solid labor relations experience preferred.* Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to prioritize critical operational issues.* Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and with external stakeholders.* Goal-oriented self-starter with strong decision-making ability and a sense of urgency in driving results.* Ability to think strategically and creatively when addressing operational challenges.* Working knowledge of ISO standards.* High ethical standards and commitment to operational integrity.* Ability to maintain regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance.**What You’ll Get**Zekelman Industries offers competitive compensation and excellent benefits, including low-cost, high-quality medical and dental benefits.
