Operations Supervisor

Overview Operations Supervisor is responsible for performance management and professional development of the Operations team. The Operations Supervisor will be responsible for training and developing employees, assigning work, and acting as a resource. Additionally the role involves managing relationships with service providers and partners, acting as a liaison for vendors to manage shipment bookings, ensuring timely transfers from logistics providers’ warehouses and onward to final destinations, and assisting with daily shipment processing. Responsibilities Responsible for the Operations and Service level of the logistics operations by providing cost effective, efficient and traceable movement of AIT's products both in-bound and out-bound. Supervise all staff directly or through team coaching on performance, job assignments, training, etc. Arrange product pickups and deliveries with transportation companies and route drivers accordingly. Communicate and build strong partnerships with trucking companies, internal/external customers, customs brokers, sales forces and vendors, receiving shipping quotes and selecting carriers based on cost, availability and reliability. Tend to customer needs by analyzing and researching orders, ensuring lowest cost transportation is used to satisfy both customer and AIT's needs. Supervise daily routes/schedules of shipments and deliveries, track progress of shipments and manage cartage set up of operations over the weekend. Exercise judgment in appraising situations and making decisions for staff management. Tailor communication (written and verbal) to the appropriate audience. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and vendors. Demonstrate leadership through work ethic and high performance. Ensure safe working environment through consistent practice of safety programs and procedures. Education Qualifications High School Diploma Required. Experience Qualifications 3-5 years experience in freight forwarding or transportation Required.
