Patient Care Representative - NYEE Ophthalmology (Carle Place)

Job Description The Patient Care Representative is responsible for the reception and initial service to an arriving patient. Activities include: registration, obtaining demographic data, updating of financial and related information, and other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school graduate or GED; Associate's degree preferred. 1 year of health care patient reception or related experience preferred. Compensation Statement The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $20.97 - $34.61 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits. Responsibilities Greet and direct patients, visitors, and staff. Answer telephones promptly and courteously. Direct calls to appropriate personnel and/or departments, take messages, and assure delivery of same. Collect and distribute patient referral information received from affiliated physicians. Escort visitors and patients to appropriate areas; provide information to assist patients and/or visitors. Distribute departmental reading material such as Emergency Department brochure, Health Care Proxy and Patient Bill of Rights. Ensure such documents are readily available. Register patients by updating or entering patient demographic, financial information and emergency contact data into the computer system. Verify demographic information and insurance coverage by interviewing patient/family member/friend. Schedule appointments. File charts and retrieve records. Deposit and reconcile all cash against deposits. Other duties as assigned.
