Job Title: Lead, Mechanical EngineerJob Code: 40268Job Location: Millersville, MD/ Herndon, VASchedule: 9/80 reg with every other Friday offJob Description:This Lead position in Mechanical Engineering will be the main technical lead onsite in Millersville for our Seabed Systems product lines. The position will be responsible for mechanical design, procurement support, environmental testing, and production support for Seabed Systems. A key part of this role is to work collaboratively across organizational boundaries and ensure programs are smoothly transitioned to production and deployment phases. The successful candidate is an experienced technical and business professional who is able to focus simultaneously on near and long term objectives.Essential Functions:Technical leadership of the Mechanical Engineering team throughout the full program lifecycle including design, development, manufacturing, formal hardware qualification, integration and test, transition to production, and production support.Provide guidance and support to achieve project goals including participation in major design and milestone reviews, technical meetings, and project planning sessionsIs a requirements-driven design engineer. Provide inputs to EVMS reporting regarding monthly progress and estimates to completion based on quantifiable backup data. Develop mechanical technical approaches for future proposals.Participate in Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) initiatives. Travel up to 10% to vendor or manufacturing facilities will be required.Qualifications:Experience leading a Mechanical Design teamExperience with electronics packaging for harsh marine environmentsExperience with Solidworks and PDM Vault Experience with undersea acoustics/sonar equipmentExperience with DFx (Design for Simplicity, Manufacturability, Testability, etc)Experience working with government contracts, requirements, and complianceBachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.Ability to obtain security clearancePreferred Additional Skills:Experience with AnsysFamiliarity using Jira for engineering metricsIn compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C. area, Denver, or NYC areas is [$135,000 MIN - $215,000 MAX]. The salary range for this role in Colorado state, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York state, Cleveland Ohio, Vermont and Virginia is [$135,000 MIN - $215,000 MAX].
