Cast Technician

Overview Schedule: Monday‑Friday (Day Shift), no weekends, holidays, or on‑call. Travel required to all sites: Dublin, Westerville, New Albany, and Main Campus‑Downtown. Responsibilities Assists Orthopedic physicians in examination, treatment, and follow‑up care of patients. Prepares patients for orthopedic procedures, explaining the process and ensuring comfort during the procedure. Applies and removes casts, splints, and braces as directed by the physician. Assists physicians in the reduction of fractures and dislocations. Orders and maintains inventory of orthopedic supplies and equipment. Cleans and sterilizes equipment and instruments to ensure patient safety. Maintains accurate patient records and ensures they are up‑to‑date. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent (required). Certification from a Medical Assisting Program, Certified Nurse Aide (CNA), or equivalent (preferred). Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills. One year previous healthcare experience (preferred); experience as Orthopedic Cast Tech, Suture Tech, or EMT (preferred). Physical Requirements Occasionally: bend/twist; manage biohazard waste; handle blood/bodily fluids; manage chemicals/medications; deal with communicable diseases or pathogens; make decisions; drive motor vehicles (work required); additional testing may be required; flex/extend neck; fume/gases/vapors; lift/carry 21‑40 lbs and 41‑60 lbs; expose to loud noises; operate patient equipment and power tools; push/pull 0‑25 lbs and 26‑40 lbs; squat/kneel; walk. Frequently: lift/carry 0‑10 lbs and 11‑20 lbs; sit; stand. Continuously: audible speech; color vision; computer skills; depth perception; hand use: grasping, gripping, turning; hearing acuity; interpret data; peripheral vision; problem solving; repetitive hand/arm use; seeing far/near. Additional Physical Requirements Must be able to move or reposition patients of any weight or size with assistance of another person(s) and/or equipment. Local travel to off‑site locations.
