Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse (RN General, Dialysis, Mental Health) Specialty: Staff Augmentation Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Evening Hours per Shift: 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: Current RN license Certifications: Relevant certifications as required for position Must-Have: Flexibility with shift/hours and days Description: Provides professional nursing care to inmates or consumers housed in a state-owned or operated facility. Observes, assesses, and records symptoms, reactions, and progress of patients. Makes nursing rounds, takes and records vital signs, prepares and administers prescribed medications and treatments, and monitors patients on a timely basis. Provides immediate medical attention in emergencies, including administering first aid and arranging transportation to a hospital. Counsels patients regarding the need for medical referrals. If assigned, schedules, assigns, and reviews work of lower-level staff, including authority to approve or disapprove leave requests. Participates in staff development and education, reviews care plans, and trains or orients new employees. In a corrections medical center, is responsible for the health care of bedridden patients by making rounds, evaluating care, developing care plans, and administering medications including narcotics. Conducts specialized procedures such as IV therapy, wound care, oxygen therapy, dialysis, and phlebotomy duties. Organizes and oversees emergency response teams. Directs health care staff assigned to the area and acts as lead worker in charge of a shift in the absence of supervisory staff. Assists physicians in giving diagnostic health evaluations. Performs clerical tasks including charting and maintaining inventory of controlled substances and medical supplies. Arranges for out-patient clinic appointments and medical examinations. Completes required reports and serves as a liaison with others in the organization. Conducts or attends meetings and serves as an instructor on occasion.
