ACRS seeks a full‑time FIN - Senior Director of Finance and Accounting in our Finance department who is responsible for the overall financial strategy, direction, and integrity of the organization. Serves as the organization’s senior financial leader, providing executive‑level guidance to the Executive Team, Leadership Team, and Board of Directors. Oversees all financial functions, including accounting, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), budgeting, and reporting—through finance leadership staff, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, long‑term sustainability, and effective stewardship of resources. COMPETITIVE BENEFITS PACKAGE INCLUDES: Pay range is between $189,900 to $213,800 annually. Can increase based on experience. ACRS pays 100% for employee only HMO/Virtual Plus medical benefits. Additional options are covered anywhere from 75% to 85%. Dental and Vision insurance are available at a very minimal cost. ACRS pays 100% of your life, AD&D and long‑term disability insurance on or coinciding with your date of hire. Employer paid ORCA card and vanpool program. Free on site parking available at Main Office Paid Time Off: 8 hours of vacation accrued monthly from day 1, available to use after 6 months of employment. 6 hours of sick leave, accrued monthly from day 1, available to use once accrued, no waiting period. 32 hours (max) of wellness leave per year, available to use upon hire, no waiting period. Wellness leave hour amount is subject to proration based on the calendar month of hiring. 13 paid holidays annually. IT equipment provided, with telecommuting reimbursement available. 403b Retirement Savings Account eligibility. Simplified Employee Pension available after 2 years. Employee Assistance Program. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Oversees all financial activities of the organization, including accounting, budgeting, payroll, forecasting, cash flow management, fund management, and financial reporting for a complex multi‑layered budget structures (restricted/unrestricted funds, grants, contracts, and earned revenue). Ensures strong internal controls are in place to safeguard organizational assets and ensure the reliability of financial statements. Establishes systems and procedures for real‑time budget tracking, variance analysis, and monthly reporting to ensure executive leadership and the Board understand fiscal performance and program impact. Establishes organizational financial targets and ensures alignment of financial resources with strategic priorities through finance leadership staff. Leads the development and implementation of multi‑year financial strategies that align with and advance organizational goals and long‑term sustainability. Connects financial planning to mission outcomes through scenario planning for funding volatility (public contract, grants) and positions the organization to scale services while protecting core programs during funding shifts. Serves as a strategic advisor to the Executive Team, Leadership Team, and Board of Directors on potential tradeoffs, growth and sustainability, and timing of major initiatives, financial implications of organizational decisions, including program expansion, funding strategies, and operational investments. Evaluates financial risks and opportunities and ensures strategies are in place to support organizational performance and growth. Represents the organization in matters related to finance and accounting, including external audits and financial reviews. Evaluates and strengthens revenue diversification and long‑term sustainability across grants and contracts, government funding, philanthropy, investments, and earned income. Oversees the organization’s relationship with external investment managers, monitors portfolio performance against the Investment Policy Statement, and reports to the Board Finance Committee on investment activity. Ensures proper fund accounting, optimizes cash flow, and assesses financial viability of new funding opportunities. Provides financial modeling to support fundraising strategies and evaluates the financial impact of revenue mix changes. Partners with development and program teams to align financial resources with strategic plan and mission priorities. Provides leadership and oversight to finance management staff, including leaders responsible for accounting, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), and related functions. Establishes clear expectations, monitors performance, and ensures alignment of departmental priorities with organizational strategy. Holds leaders accountable for achieving financial, operational, and strategic outcomes. Builds and maintains a high‑performing finance team through effective hiring, onboarding, and ongoing development. Establishes clear roles, delegates appropriately, and ensures staff are trained in department functions, systems, and agency policies and procedures. Supports professional growth and holds team members accountable for performance and outcomes, including succession planning that prepares the organization for leadership continuity across a complex behavioral health and social services environment. Ensures accurate time and attendance oversight for direct reports, approves work time and leave requests in accordance with payroll deadlines, and assigns HRIS delegation during absences to ensure continuity of payroll processing. Develops and ensures implementation of financial and accounting policies and procedures to maintain compliance with federal and state healthcare funding requirements GAAP, legal and regulatory requirements, and contractual obligations. Serves as key partner in contract negotiation and management to ensure full cost recovery and minimize risk exposure. Maintains relationships with public funders and oversight bodies while ensuring transparency and accountability to the Board Finance Committee. Oversees audits, tax filings, and required reporting to state, federal, and funding entities. Ensures systems are in place to monitor compliance and mitigate financial risk. Provides executive oversight of the organization’s financial planning and analysis (FP&A) function, building out this capability to provide strategic insights, including long‑range financial modeling, forecasting, scenario planning, and performance measurement. Develops key performance indicators (KPIs), financial dashboards, and operational metrics that translate accounting data into actionable intelligence. Ensures the delivery of timely, accurate, and actionable financial insights to executive leadership and the Board. Reviews and guides recommendations developed by the FP&A Director to inform strategic decision‑making and resource allocation. Builds scalable financial systems and implements process improvements and financial tools to support organizational growth. Partners with IT and operations to promote integrated systems where possible. Promotes financial literacy across departments by supporting leadership in understanding financial performance and budget management. Evaluates the structure and effectiveness of the Finance Department and implements improvements to enhance efficiency, scalability, and service delivery. Participates in agency, program, and team meetings, in‑service trainings, and supervision sessions to support organizational alignment and effective communication. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience: Master's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field with five (5) years of public accounting or behavioral health/non‑profit financial experience in a leadership role, including direct supervision of finance staff and responsibility for financial operations and process improvement; OR Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field with seven (7) years of public accounting or behavioral health/non‑profit financial experience in a leadership role, including direct supervision of finance staff and responsibility for financial operations and process improvement. AND Licensed Certified Public Accountant strongly preferred. Knowledge and Skills: Strong working knowledge of GAAP, non‑profit fund accounting including restricted and unrestricted fund management, and the full grants management lifecycle, including compliance and reporting for government, corporate, and foundation grants. Demonstrated experience managing non‑profit audits, including Single Audit (formerly known as A-133 Audit), and related tax reporting. Experience with contract review and management, risk assessment and management, and compliance, including expert negotiation skills. Ability to interpret strategic financial and service data, and to explain complex financial concepts to multiple audiences, including non‑finance staff and leadership ; Ability to diagnose financial and operational problems, develop practical solutions, and make sound decisions in ambiguous or resource‑constrained environments;. Strong knowledge of healthcare revenue cycle management, medical billing (particularly Medicaid/Medicare), credentialing processes, and behavioral healthcare‑specific compliance requirements including HIPAA financial safeguards. Experience with revenue diversification strategies, financial modeling for fundraising, and multi‑year financial planning in a complex and dynamic funding environment. Understands change management principles, including communicating purpose and impact, engaging stakeholders to build buy‑in, and supporting individuals and teams through transitions. Technical Skills: Proficient in using modern workplace technology, including collaboration tools, communication platforms, and business applications for document creation, scheduling, and data management. Able to learn new systems quickly, navigate digital workflows, and use online tools and resources to support day‑to‑day work. Additional Requirements: Must have reliable transportation. If using a personal or agency vehicle to fulfill job duties, must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable under ACRS’s auto policy. If using personal vehicle, must have current auto insurance. Follows all agency policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook. WORKING CONDITIONS: The position requires regular mobility within the office or workspace, may involve sitting for extended periods throughout the day and the ability to handle objects, tools, or controls. Occasional lifting or moving of up to 20 pounds may be required. Involves tasks where visual acuity is beneficial. This position is hybrid, with work divided between on‑site and remote locations. The hybrid schedule/split will be determined once the incumbent is established in the role. These hybrid work expectations are subject to change at the agency’s discretion. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
