Position Title: Lecturer – Psychology – College of Letters and Sciences Job Category: Academic Staff Employment Type: Terminal (Fixed Term) Job Profile: Lecturer Job Duties: Attention: The Department of Psychology in the College of Letters & Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater seeks a lecturer in the area of School Psychology beginning August 2026. This is a half‑time position with responsibilities for teaching graduate courses in the School Psychology Program, supervising practicum placements and applied research projects. The School Psychology Program is housed within the Psychology Department, grants the Education Specialist degree, is approved by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI), and is accredited by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP). This will be a 9‑month fixed‑term appointment. For information on fixed‑term contracts, please see UW System Admin Policy 1250: Job Security. Job Details: The position will include teaching 2 courses per semester in the graduate program. Courses include Academic Assessment and Progress Monitoring, Intellectual Assessment, and supervision of Practicum each semester, as well as supervision of Specialist Project research. The candidate will be expected to contribute to the School Psychology Program and embrace the principles of diversity and inclusion as a member of the university community. We have a number of graduate assistants available to support instruction in courses. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in teaching, incorporating high impact practices within instruction and school‑based experiences supporting a diverse range of children. Responsibilities: Half‑time teaching responsibilities include teaching graduate courses in school psychology, collaborating on curricular changes/program innovations, and supervising student practicum experiences and applied research projects. Instructional academic staff at UW‑Whitewater may be required to teach in a variety of formats, including in‑person, online, or hybrid as well as courses in the evenings. All students, faculty, and staff are required to ensure their materials are digitally accessible and utilize standard technology platforms supported by UW‑Whitewater. Examples include, but are not limited to Canvas, Google, and Microsoft Office applications – including Outlook, which is essential for university email communications and scheduling. Key Job Responsibilities: Facilitates classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses, including assessment of student performance Develops instructional design and curriculum relevant to a course of instruction Serves as an initial point of contact for students as it relates to specific course or series content and expectations Compensation: Well‑qualified candidates can expect a minimum starting salary of $25,000, commensurate with the candidate’s education, related experience, and qualifications. There may be additional opportunities outside of the academic year to teach and earn a salary during the summer months. UW System employees receive an excellent benefit package. Required Qualifications: An Education Specialist Degree (Ed.S.) in School Psychology from a NASP approved/accredited program in School Psychology At least two years of full‑time experience as a school psychologist, as well as National Certification as a School Psychologist (NCSP), and licensure (or license eligible) in Wisconsin are required for practicum supervision. Evidence of potential for effective teaching with emphasis on promoting the success of graduate students and employing student‑centered high‑impact practices that foster engagement, skill development, and critical thinking. Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated record of effective teaching Demonstrated record of commitment to principles of inclusivity Commitment to socially just practices that promote equitable, educational outcomes for children. Experience assessing and supporting culturally and linguistically diverse children Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to interact respectfully with people with diverse socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds Willingness and ability to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training and drills Education: Ed.S. degree in school psychology.
