Elementary Teacher

Position Summary The Elementary Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering standards‑based instruction that promotes academic achievement, social development, and lifelong learning in alignment with District curriculum and Illinois State Standards. Qualifications Bachelor's degree required. Content area certification required for middle school teachers. Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with appropriate grade‑level and content‑area endorsement. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Develop and implement engaging, standards‑aligned lesson plans that meet the diverse academic, social, and emotional needs of students. Utilize research‑based instructional strategies, educational technology, and District‑approved curriculum resources to enhance student learning. Assess and evaluate student academic and social growth; maintain accurate and timely records of student progress; adjust instructional strategies based on data. Provide appropriate accommodations and modifications for students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Section 504 Plans in collaboration with special education staff. Establish and maintain a structured, organized, and positive classroom environment that supports active learning and student responsibility. Implement effective classroom management strategies that promote positive behavior and minimize disruptions to the learning environment. Administer District and state‑mandated assessments in accordance with testing protocols and utilize results to inform instruction. Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and administrators to support student success and contribute to a cohesive educational environment. Communicate regularly and professionally with parents/guardians regarding student progress, academic expectations, and behavioral concerns. Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and District initiatives as required. Maintain professional competence through District‑provided in‑service training and self‑directed professional growth activities. Physical Demands and Work Environment Work is performed primarily in a classroom and school environment with regular interaction with students and staff. The position requires the ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the classroom and school building for extended periods while supervising and instructing students. The employee may occasionally bend, stoop, reach, and lift classroom materials or equipment up to approximately 20 pounds. The position requires the ability to operate instructional technology and visually and verbally monitor student behavior and classroom activities. The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
