Role Description The Elementary Music Teacher is a full‑time, on‑site role located in South Holland, IL, responsible for delivering high‑quality music instruction to elementary‑grade students. This role includes planning and teaching developmentally appropriate music lessons that align with district curriculum and state standards, including general music concepts, basic music theory, and introductory performance skills. The teacher will lead classroom activities such as singing, rhythm exercises, movement, and instrument use, including piano where appropriate, while fostering creativity and appreciation for music. Daily responsibilities include assessing student progress, maintaining accurate records, preparing instructional materials, and collaborating with colleagues to support cross‑curricular learning. The Elementary Music Teacher will also communicate regularly with families, participate in school events and performances, and contribute to a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment. Qualifications Strong foundation in music theory and general music concepts, with the ability to teach these skills to elementary‑age students. Demonstrated skills in music performance and piano, including modeling proper technique and guiding student performance activities. Background in music education and curriculum design, with experience adapting instruction to diverse learning needs and abilities. Ability to create engaging, student‑centered music lessons that build musical literacy, creativity, and confidence. Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or a related field; valid Illinois Professional Educator License with appropriate music endorsement preferred. Effective classroom management skills and commitment to fostering an inclusive, respectful, and culturally responsive classroom environment. Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with students, families, colleagues, and administrators.
