Garlock is looking for a GYLON Calender Operator to join our manufacturing team. What you’ll do:

• Operate calender machinery used to produce GYLON sheet material.
• Set up and run machine centers using HMIs and computers to load programs and maintain production flow.
• Follow work instructions to support consistent product quality across shifts.
• Check sheet dimensions, including length, width, and thickness, to ensure product meets specifications.
• Move material through the production line according to requirements.
• Maintain accurate counts to support inventory accuracy and production tracking.
• Take product samples and submit them to Quality for evaluation.
• Review job paperwork for accuracy and keep production information organized.
• Maintain a clean work area to help prevent product contamination.

What we’re looking for:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Basic computer skills and comfort using production systems or machine interfaces.
• Previous manufacturing experience preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow work instructions accurately.

Physical and work environment requirements:

• Standing, pushing, pulling, bending, reaching, cutting, and pulling during the shift.
• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds; anything over 35 pounds requires two people or a mechanical lifting device.
• Comfort working in a climate-controlled manufacturing environment with noise, solvent fumes, graphite, dynasol, and silica.
• Ability to work in a union manufacturing environment.

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 2pm-10pm

Starting Pay: $23.49/hour, Pay Range: $23.49-$24.87/hour, Shift Differential (2nd): $1.50/hour

FULL JOB DESCRIPTION

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Operates a Calender machine.
• Follows work instructions to ensure consistent product is made throughout all 3 shifts
• Set up and operation of machine centers (This includes using HMI’s and computers to load programs)
• Checks dimensions (length, width & thickness) of every sheet to ensure product meets specifications
• Moves material down the line per specifications.
• Maintains accurate counts to aid in inventory management.
• Ensures cleanliness of work area throughout shift to prevent contamination of product.
• Responsible for taking samples and turning them into our quality department for evaluation
• Reviews job paperwork for accuracy.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Adheres to the safety policy and encourages teammates to do the same
• Ensures cleanliness of work area throughout shift to prevent contamination of product
• Actively seeks safety opportunities and brings up any issues to supervision for correction
• Keeps work area clean.
• Performs other jobs as assigned by Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
