Staff Accountant

OVERVIEWWe are seeking a detail-oriented accounting professional with experience in journal entries, financial statements, reconciliations, budgeting, audit support, and regulatory reporting. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively with managers and cross-functional teams.SCHEDULE: 40-hours per weekSHIFT: Day Shift HoursESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES• Prepares and reviews journal entries and financial statements.• Prepares financial reviews and reconciliations, using both standard and ad hoc reporting tools to analyze source data.• Perform accounting and accounting balancing for basic level accounting issues.• Prepare audit workpapers.• Works with other departmental staff and departmental managers to prepare budget for multiple entities and responds to questions from managers and directors.• Complete regulatory reporting for areas assigned.• Analyzes financial processes and opportunities to improve system financial performance.• Completes special projects, pro forma financial analyses as assigned.• Assists other Accountants and Directors as needed.• Banking transaction assistance as needed.• Works with others across the organization to ensure procedures are adequate to ensure proper internal and external controls of financial data.EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCEBA in Accounting preferred.Associates in Accounting or Bachelor’s in related field will be considered, with two years relative experienceCERTIFICATION/LICENSURECPA designation a plus, but not requiredOTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIESAbility to think independently desired but could be developed on the job.PAY RANGE:$27.71 - $42.95Mercyhealth is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
