Reference: 13575Senior Quantity Surveyor – BuildingLocation: BirminghamWe are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Building team, supporting projects across the West Midlands. This is a key commercial role with responsibility for ensuring the successful financial delivery of projects, from procurement through to final account.You will take ownership of the commercial management of either a major project or multiple smaller schemes, with the autonomy to influence financial performance, manage risk, and support strategic decision-making. Working closely with operational teams, clients, and supply chain partners, you will play a critical role in driving value and ensuring commercial success.As our Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will:Take responsibility for the commercial management of projects, including cost control, forecasting, reporting, and final account agreementLead on subcontract procurement, negotiation, and contract administration to ensure best value and effective risk managementPrepare and manage applications for payment, variations, and claims, ensuring timely cash flow and commercial protectionWork closely with project teams and clients to identify risks and opportunities, driving value engineering and commercial performanceLead, mentor, and support junior commercial staff, contributing to the development of a high-performing teamAbout YouYou will be a commercially astute and detail-oriented professional with strong experience in quantity surveying within a main contractor environment.You will bring:Proven experience managing the commercial aspects of construction projects, including final accountsStrong knowledge of measurement, valuation, and standard forms of contractExperience in subcontract procurement, negotiation, and contract administrationThe ability to produce accurate cost reports, forecasts, and financial analysisA strong understanding of construction processes, drawings, and specificationsExperience in risk management, value engineering, and dispute avoidance/resolutionExcellent communication and negotiation skills, with a collaborative approachExperience mentoring and developing junior team membersExperience across sectors such as health, education, commercial, or mixed-use developments is highly desirable.
