About the Role
The Company is seeking a Chief Development Officer (CDO) to lead its fundraising efforts during a period of significant growth and ambition. The CDO will be the senior fundraising leader, responsible for developing and implementing advancement strategies across various giving channels, including major gifts, annual giving, institutional giving, and corporate partnerships. This role is pivotal in deepening philanthropic support and requires a strategic, relationship-driven, and entrepreneurial executive with a proven track record in securing substantial donations and building strong donor relationships. The successful candidate will also be involved in campaign planning, and stewardship, and will work closely with the Board, executive leadership, and staff to connect donors to the organization's mission. The ideal CDO for the company will be a compelling storyteller, a collaborative partner, and a visible ambassador for its work in science education, conservation, community engagement, and environmental stewardship. They should be adept at creating and strengthening development systems, and be energized by the opportunity to build fundraising infrastructure and internal systems. The role demands a professional who can bring structure to ambiguity, and who is adept at using data and fundraising technology to guide decision-making. A strong educational background in a relevant field, such as nonprofit management, business, or a related discipline, is typically required, along with a deep understanding of the philanthropic landscape and a passion for the mission of the organization.
