Position summary With limited supervision, the Sr. Physician billing associate is responsible for the timely and accurate submission of all charges and claims as assigned. Identifies and investigates billing issues and works them through to a successful resolution. Ensures daily assignments are completed and all assigned work is reviewed, submitted, and resolved with a high degree of accuracy. Key responsibilities Review and verify demographic and insurance information using available technology, payer websites, and phone contact with third-party payers or guarantors. Collaborate with management and team members to obtain information needed to resolve charge edits, claim edits, denials, and appeals. Prepare and submit accurate insurance claims and appeals within required timeframes and in accordance with payer and government regulations. Resolve outstanding charges and claims and address outstanding balances accurately and promptly. Accept, reject, and reconcile claim runs and process payer response reports. Review and process guarantor overpayments according to department policies and procedures. Respond to inquiries from patients, guarantors, insurance carriers, and internal departments or foundations by phone and other correspondence. Assist with training newly hired staff on processes and system navigation. Maintain a high level of accuracy, organization, and reliability while managing daily assignments and priorities. Minimum qualifications Education High School Diploma or GED required. Experience 2 years of experience in multi-specialty physician billing or equivalent medical billing experience. Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
