Job Description
- Provide daily instruction and academic support to high school students.
- Prepare lesson plans, classroom activities, projects, and assessments.
- Assist students with Edmentum, IXL, and other approved educational programs.
- Monitor students’ grades, attendance, participation, and course completion.
- Ensure students complete a minimum of four hours of academic work each school day.
- Help students remain on track to earn the credits required for graduation.
- Review student assignments and provide timely feedback.
- Maintain accurate academic, attendance, and behavioral records.
- Communicate with parents or guardians regarding student progress, attendance, behavior, and academic concerns.
- Provide additional assistance to students who need repeated instructions or individualized support.
- Encourage students to maintain grades of 80% or higher in their courses.
- Prepare students for required assessments, including MAP/NWEA and SAT testing.
- Maintain a safe, respectful, clean, and organized classroom.
- Enforce school rules, attendance requirements, dress code, and behavior expectations.
- Attend staff meetings, professional-development sessions, CPR training, and other required school activities.
- Follow all New Direction Academy policies and procedures.
- Maintain student confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Report safety, disciplinary, or academic concerns to school administration immediately.
- Complete other duties assigned by the principal or superintendent.
