RN Clinical Nurse Coordinator Med-Surg (Charge)

Overview A Clinical Nurse Coordinator (Charge RN) opportunity is available on a Med‑Surg unit at a 585+ bed hospital with a Level I Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center in Kansas City, MO. Responsibilities The Clinical Nurse Coordinator directs, monitors, and evaluates nursing care across the designated shift in collaboration with the broader management team. In this charge capacity, the CNC coordinates admission and discharge processes to support efficient patient throughput, participates in ongoing assessment of care quality on the unit, and serves as a resource and point of collaboration for nursing staff. The role also carries staffing responsibilities, including assisting with scheduling and managing labor in alignment with patient care needs and productivity expectations, as well as contributing to staff selection, development, and performance processes. Qualifications Strong, current acute care experience in Med‑Surg; prior charge RN experience in an acute care Med‑Surg setting preferred, or a minimum of two years as a staff RN on a Med‑Surg unit — experience must be recent and current Graduation from an accredited school of nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date Schedule Position is available on days (7a–7p) or nights (7p–7a), both with rotating weekends.
