Industrial Maintenance MechanicWR Grace is a leading Manufacturer of Specialty Chemicals and is seeking an Industrial Mechanic reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor at our Curtis Bay plant in Baltimore, MD! This position will be responsible for supporting the plant's mechanical maintenance program, playing a critical role in reactive and preventative maintenance.Schedule: A Multi may be required to work a rotating shift schedule, work overtime, and work holidays as business dictates. Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment must be worn when required.Responsibilities:Performs precision repairs to plant mechanical equipment and devicesTroubleshoots plant equipment, identifies equipment problems, and performs effective repairsPerforms preventive maintenanceDisassembles and reassembles equipment to gain access to and remove and replace defective partsExamines parts to detect imperfectionsEvaluates used parts to identify changes to improve equipment performanceInstalls, adjusts, and aligns machinery for maximum performancePerforms minor lubricationFabricates some new parts and will get parts when parts delivery is unavailable and work completion is time critical.Sets up and operate drill press, grinder, shop tools, hand tools, and other metalworking tools to make and repair partsUses acetylene, plasma cutter, or other burning equipmentPerforms welding using stick, mig, tig, or other welding proceduresFabricates and installs piping systemsEnters Confined Spaces to perform assigned workMaintains a high level of housekeeping in shops and work areas at all timesPhysical Requirements and Environment:Ability to follow safety protocols and standards working in a laboratory environment with highly hazardous materialsAbility to follow safety protocols and standards working in a pilot plant facility with highly hazardous materialsAbility to work in a high hazard environment, including adverse weather conditions, elevated spaces, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and noisy surroundings. Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs and ladders over 100 ft. Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respiratorRequired Qualifications:High school diploma or general education degree (GED)Valid driver's license requiredMinimum of 5 years of related mechanical maintenance experience in an industrial or chemical manufacturing environment.Candidates must pass a written mechanical aptitude and a hands-on mechanical aptitude test prior to being awarded the position.Basic proficiency with hand and power tools, precision measuring instruments, shop machinery, and mechanical equipment troubleshooting.Ability to perform the essential physical functions of the job as determined by the organization, including lifting heavy equipment, working at heights, climbing ladders, and working in various environmental conditions (indoor/outdoor, warm/cold).Preferred Qualifications:Associate degree or formal apprenticeship completion in Industrial Maintenance Technology, Mechanical Technology, or a related trade.Recognized industry certifications such as Machine Lubrication Technician (MLT I), Certified Maintenance & Reliability Technician (CMRT), or AWS Welding certifications.Experience using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS, such as SAP Maintenance) for work order tracking and time management.Benefits:Medical, Dental, Vision InsuranceLife Insurance and DisabilityGrace Wellness ProgramFlexible WorkplaceRetirement Plans401(k) Company MatchPaid Vacation and HolidaysTuition ReimbursementCompany Donation Match ProgramU.S. Employee Benefits Summary (grace.com)
