Entry Level Civil/ Waterfront Engineer

GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (GZA) is currently seeking an Entry-Level Civil/Waterfront Engineer to join our team in our Amesbury, Massachusetts office. The successful candidate should have a strong academic record, solid understanding of civil engineering fundamentals, and a desire to work on a variety of exciting and challenging projects both in the office and in the field. Assignments will likely be focused on coastal projects, but will also span a variety of infrastructure, real estate/building development, and energy projects. Previous work experience is preferred but not required. Strong work ethic and communication skills are highly valued. Between field work projects, you will work in a professional office setting, preparing detailed and accurate field documentation, evaluating data and performing engineering analyses, preparing technical reports, and implementing new technology. Primary Responsibilities Executing subsurface exploration and in‑situ testing programs to evaluate soil and bedrock conditions Performing field construction observation during installation of soft (nature‑based) and hard shoreline protection/stabilization measures and other coastal projects, shallow and deep foundation installation and testing, environmental sampling and monitoring, and other diverse projects. Assisting with topographic and bathymetric survey as well as condition assessment of waterfront structures. Evaluating field data and performing engineering analyses/calculations. Writing field summary reports, drafts of field and engineering reports, technical specifications, and other technical documents. Preparing construction cost/quantity estimates. Assisting with submittal reviews and requests for information during construction. Communicating effectively and efficiently with contractors, clients, and team members. Qualifications BS degree in Civil Engineering (MS Degree is a plus). 1+ years of professional work experience is preferred. Effective communication, problem solving and organizational skills. Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical capabilities. Experience with numerical modeling, AutoCad and GIS preferred. Ability to work independently or in a team setting. Ability to work locally and regionally. Candidate must possess a valid driver’s license in good standing and have a consistent means of transportation to/from project sites. Familiarity with coastal processes and small boat operation is preferred. EIT certificate or ability to obtain within a year. Desire to obtain Professional Engineer registration. The base salary for this position may range between $70,000 and $90,000. The actual base salary and total compensation will depend on many factors, including location, candidate experience, education, professional licensure, and other qualifications.
