Streets Maintenance Technician

Our Streets team works diligently to ensure safe roads and essential quality of life and wellbeing for the Fate community. This position performs a variety of semi‑skilled street maintenance and repair tasks of public infrastructure including repair of the City’s roadways, parking lots, curbs, gutters, sidewalks and drainage facilities. This position identifies areas needing repairs and may perform demolition, patching and overlaying, crack sealing of asphalt, back‑filling trenches and excavations. What We Offer 4 days a week, 10‑hour shifts Excellent benefits package, including retirement, paid holidays and paid time off Full healthcare coverage $5,100 Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) for covering dependent premiums or unreimbursed medical expenses Professional development opportunities Strong team with a collaborative work environment Responsibilities Perform a variety of street maintenance and construction repairs to asphalt and concrete including sidewalks and curbs Maintain heavy equipment to include backhoe, bobcat and pulling trailer Install traffic control devices and signage as required Maintain records of street and construction projects and street inventory Repair/replace street signs Perform crack sealing and sweeping of city streets Evaluate school zone signals and coordinate street light repairs Daily repairs on city streets as needed Perform proper maintenance of department equipment Perform preventative maintenance on all city‑owned drainage easements throughout the city Qualifications High School Diploma or GED One year experience performing concrete/asphalt street repair preferred Experience operating heavy equipment preferred Possession of a valid Texas driver’s license A combination of education, training and experience providing the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered Required Skills and Knowledge Knowledge of concrete and asphalt street maintenance methods Knowledge of the city geography including street locations Knowledge of department safety rules and procedures Ability to work under stress and use good judgment in emergency situations Ability to tactfully respond to requests and inquiries from the general public Ability to establish effective working relationships with employees Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing Ability to follow written and oral instructions Skills in operating variety of power tools, hand tools, and various construction and excavation equipment #J-18808-Ljbffr HOUSTON APARTMENT FOUNDATION
