Clinical Social Work-LICSW-24 Hours, Days/Weekend

Position Summary Utilizing clinical social work techniques and theory, consults on, assesses, and intervenes with high‑risk patients and their families regarding the impact and amelioration of emotional and social problems. The role includes conducting psychosocial assessments, making diagnoses, planning and implementing effective treatments, evaluating outcomes, educating patients and families, supervising staff, coaching and mentoring clients, family members, and interns, and coordinating care with a wide range of agencies, courts, schools, clinics, physicians, and other providers. Schedule Part Time, 24 hours per week, days/weekend, float. Sunday, Wednesday, Saturday 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. One holiday per year. Essential Responsibilities / Duties Assess patients and families to identify emotional and social problems. Use the department’s psychosocial assessment tool as a guideline. Identify issues to be addressed during care and develop a plan. Report suspected abuse and neglect cases and follow up to ensure compliance with legal mandates. Engage patients’ families through the initial assessment process and attempt contact on the same day, if indicated. Consult and collaborate with the healthcare team to address patients’ emotional and social needs. Provide psychotherapeutic treatment and/or psychosocial support to patients and families to reduce identified problems. Maintain frequent contact as prescribed, including weekly updates and additional communication as needed. Use social work theory to assist patients and families in coping with illness or social issues to improve functioning and emotional state. Complete inpatient assessments within 24 hours of referral and within two interviews or seven working days, outpatient assessments within two interviews, and emergency department assessments within four hours of discharge. Maintain patient confidentiality and document encounters appropriately in medical and department records. Comply with departmental, regulatory, and professional documentation requirements. Submit required department statistics, records, and reports within specified time frames. Maintain competency, attend staff meetings, obtain continuing education units, and support department quality initiatives. Supervise graduate and undergraduate students (MSW/BSW) per assignment. Identify operational weaknesses and recommend improvements. Contribute to department committees and represent the department within the hospital and community. Maintain a clean and organized work area and report equipment malfunctions. Understand emergency procedures and adhere to hospital conduct standards. Notify supervisor of unmet patient age groups and seek specialized assistance. Provide clinical supervision to licensed clinical social workers and other personnel. Manage the internship program, including paperwork, contracts, training, and evaluation. Support and coordinate new program developments related to the mission of BMC. Lead committees such as bereavement, in‑service training, ethics, and trauma. Other Duties Perform other duties as needed. Use the hospital’s behavioral standards as the basis for decision making and to facilitate the mission. Follow established infection control and safety procedures. Education Master’s Degree from an accredited school of Social Work. Job Requirements / Licenses Massachusetts Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW). Experience One to two years of on‑job training in social work process and community resources related to health, illness, and disability. Knowledge and Skills Knowledge of community resources and agencies serving children and families. Advanced interpersonal skills for effective interaction with healthcare professionals and supervisory relationships with graduate students. Comfort in a fast‑paced, dynamic work environment. Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team. Cultural sensitivity and comfort with diverse racial and ethnic populations. Bicultural/Bilingual competency (a plus). Compensation Range $42.60–$51.92 per hour.
