What your day looks like

You start by reviewing job travelers and engineering drawings, then set up precision gauges to run a first article on a new precision sheet metal assembly. You verify every critical dimension and tolerance with calipers, micrometers, height gauges, comparators, and a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM). As parts move through production, you perform in-process and final inspections, documenting results, flagging any nonconformances, and partnering with production and engineering to resolve issues at the source. Throughout the shift, you keep the inspection area organized to 5S standards and make sure tools are calibrated and used correctly.

What you’ll do

• Own first article, in-process, and final inspections for precision sheet metal parts and assemblies to internal standards, customer specifications, and AS9100/NADCAP requirements.
• Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and travelers to identify characteristics, tolerances, and cosmetic requirements.
• Measure with calipers, micrometers, height gauges, optical comparators, CMM, and other metrology tools; record and analyze results.
• Complete inspection records, create and maintain nonconformance reports (NCRs), and support internal audits and documentation for AS9100 and NADCAP.
• Maintain calibration logs; verify gauges and fixtures are handled, stored, and used properly.
• Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality to drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions; contribute to continuous improvement.
• Keep the workspace clean, safe, and compliant with 5S and safety standards; use required PPE (safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection).

What you’ll bring

• High school diploma or GED.
• 2+ years of quality inspection experience in precision sheet metal or aerospace manufacturing.
• Working knowledge of AS9100, NADCAP, and ISO quality systems.
• Fluency in blueprint/technical drawing interpretation.
• Expertise in precision measurement and inspection techniques; strong documentation and communication skills.
• Ability to identify defects and support effective problem solving.

Physical demands & environment

• Stand for extended periods; bend and lift up to 40 lbs.
• Frequent hand/visual work inspecting small parts and components.
• Manufacturing and inspection environment; close interaction with production, engineering, and quality teams.

Schedule

Hours: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM, Monday – Friday (Some flexibility may be required based on production needs).

Compensation & benefits

Hourly Rate: $21 - $27 per hour. Benefits include shared-cost health care, paid holidays, paid time off, and a 401(k) with company match after a waiting period.
