Position Summary:

Pathways to Wellness is a psychiatric practice located in Cordova and in Clarksville TN. We are seeking to find a compassionate and skilled Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our dynamic team in an outpatient behavioral health clinic offering both in-person and telehealth appointments. The Mental Health NP will provide psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning, medication management, and therapeutic interventions for patients dealing with various mental health conditions. The role requires strong clinical expertise, adherence to legal and ethical standards, and an ability to foster positive relationships with patients and their families. This position is essential in ensuring high-quality mental health services and contributing to a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assessment and Diagnosis : Perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, diagnose mental health disorders, and develop individualized treatment plans for patients. Address a range of mental health concerns, including mood disorders, anxiety, depression, psychosis, and substance use.
• Medication Management : Prescribe and monitor psychiatric medications, including antidepressants, antipsychotics, mood stabilizers, and anxiolytics. Regularly assess the effectiveness of medications and make adjustments as necessary to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Therapeutic Interventions : Provide psychotherapy (e.g., Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy) and other therapeutic modalities within the scope of practice. Engage with patients to address both their immediate and long-term mental health needs.
• EMR Documentation : Maintain thorough, timely, and accurate documentation of patient assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, medication management, and other relevant medical records in the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system. Ensure that documentation complies with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and HIPAA guidelines.
• Timely Appointment Arrivals : Adhere to the clinic's scheduling policies, ensuring timely arrival for scheduled appointments. Be proactive in managing time to provide efficient and effective care to each patient. Minimize delays and cancellations.
• HIPAA and Privacy Compliance : Ensure all patient interactions, records, and communications comply with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other confidentiality laws. Protect patient privacy and secure sensitive information at all times, whether in verbal, written, or electronic form.
• Collaboration and Teamwork : Work closely with other healthcare providers, including physicians, social workers, and therapists, to develop and implement a coordinated care plan for each patient. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Patient Education and Support : Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, medication adherence, and self-care strategies. Provide emotional support and encourage patient involvement in their treatment plan.
• Continuing Education and Professional Development : Stay current with mental health trends, research, and best practices. Attend training and professional development sessions to enhance clinical skills and knowledge. Maintain licensure and certifications as required by the state.
• Crisis Intervention : Provide crisis intervention when necessary, including managing emergency situations related to suicidal ideation, aggression, and acute mental health crises. Ensure appropriate referrals and support systems are in place for patients in crisis.

Qualifications:

• Education : Master's degree or higher in Nursing with a focus on Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
• Licensure/Certification : Current, active Nurse Practitioner license in the state. Board certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC or PMHNP-C) required. Unrestricted DEA; Active malpractice insurance.
• Experience : Minimum of 2 years of experience in a psychiatric/mental health outpatient setting. Experience with both medication management and therapy is preferred.

Skills :

• Strong diagnostic and clinical assessment skills.
• Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and experience in maintaining patient confidentiality.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Empathy, patience, and a non-judgmental approach to patient care.
• Knowledge of coding and clinical record documentation to adhere to all insurance, state and federal guidelines.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
• Must be able to navigate a medical office and interact with patients in various stages of mental health.
