Maintenance TechnicianTexas Lehigh Cement Company LP - Buda, TX$30 - $37/hr. based on experienceJob Summary: The Maintenance Technician, reporting to the Maintenance team Supervisor will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of machinery and equipment that is both corrective and planned downtime maintenance of the plant.Roles and Responsibilities:Install, tests, maintains, and repairs all mechanical equipment in accordance with specifications; fits, assembles, erects, and installs.Perform planned and corrective maintenance activities communicating findings to the reliability maintenance team to ensure optimal operation of plant equipment.Use welding and cutting equipment to create and modify machine parts for repairs and improvements.Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals as needed.Utilize hand tools, precision measuring devices, and heavy equipment (i.e. dial indicators, alignment tools, cranes, manlifts, and forklifts.)Collaborate with other maintenance and operations staff to ensure smooth plant operations.Follow and support all company safety policy and practices, participating in toolbox talks, area inspections, and improvement recommendations.Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.Document maintenance activities and report any issues to the maintenance supervisor and/or superintendent.Performs other duties as assigned.Required Skills/Abilities:Ability to read and interpret technical documents and blueprints.Proficiency in using hand and power tools.Understanding of cement processes and common equipment such as crushers, raw mills, bucket elevators, motor and fan balancing, alignments, belt replacement and dust collectors.Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Strong communication and teamwork skills.Ability to read and understand English adhering to all company and plant safety policies and procedures and duties, responsibilities and instruction of the scope of work assigned.Ability to communicate effectively in person and on radio.Ability to work various shifts, including rotating, extended hours, and respond to call outs.Ability to work outdoors in demanding physical conditions including walking over rough and uneven surfaces, climbing ladders up to 20 feet and stairs, bending, pushing, pulling, and working in awkward positions, working in confined spaces, lifting and carrying materials up to 50 pounds frequently. 75 pounds occasionally, and 100 pounds rarely.Ability to pass required background checks, physical examination, and drug screening.Education/Experience:High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in mechanical maintenance is preferred.2 -4 years of experience as a mechanical repairman/technician/millwright, preferably in a cement or similar heavy industrial environment.Working Conditions:Regular exposure to dust, loud noise, heat, dirt, and all-weather conditionsWork at elevated heights up to 225 feetOperating mobile equipment may involve jarring motions and vibratory exposureEssential Physical Demands & Frequency Definitions: The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodation.Benefits:Competitive wagesBonus programComprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage optionsRetirement savings plan 401(k) with company match and profit sharingSupplemental life insuranceVacation, Holiday, and Sick Pay programsOpportunities for professional growth and developmentThis job description is not intended to be all inclusive, but to be used as a general outline to understand the expectations of the position.
