HR Generalist

This front-facing role supports all levels of team members at the site while actively participating in broader company initiatives. The successful candidate plays a vital role in driving employee engagement, supporting operational excellence, and ensuring the smooth delivery of HR programs. As the only HR generalist onsite, this is a hands‑on, high‑impact position requiring versatility, collaboration, and exceptional interpersonal skills. Job Details Employee Type: Full time Location: Fair Lawn, NJ Job Type: Human Resources General Schedule: Monday–Friday with overtime possible Responsibilities Lead full‑cycle hiring for hourly employees: create requisitions, post positions, conduct interviews, perform background/reference checks, issue offer letters and coordinate onboarding. Collaborate with the training team to facilitate new‑hire orientation. Administer payroll for hourly employees on a weekly basis and maintain accurate attendance, headcount, and recruitment records. Coordinate employee events, communications, and recognition programs. Leverage the Human Resources Information System (HRIS), Workday, to enter data, generate reports, and perform regular audits to ensure data integrity. Create reports to identify workforce trends and measure program effectiveness. Interpret engagement survey data and support execution of plant‑level action plans. Coach leadership on employee relations, performance, and policy interpretation. Address and resolve team member concerns, ensuring confidentiality and consistency, and assist with investigations to support fair resolution of workplace issues. Uphold compliance with employment laws and company policies. Qualifications & Competencies University degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience. Minimum of 2 years of progressive HR experience; food manufacturing experience preferred. Proficiency in employment law, HRIS, payroll, and enterprise resource planning systems (e.g., Workday, UKG, SAP, OpenPhone). Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills across all levels. High degree of integrity, discretion, and professionalism. Detail‑oriented with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Proactive mindset with a drive for continuous improvement and operational excellence. PHR or SHRM designation preferred. Availability for regular Monday–Friday hours with flexibility to support 24/7 operations as needed. Bi‑lingual Spanish preferred.
