Formulation Scientist, Discovery Pharmaceutical Sciences (Onsite)

Merck's Discovery Pharmaceutical Sciences group in South San Francisco seeks a Formulation Scientist (R2) to support physico-chemical characterization and formulation development of protein and small molecule drug candidates from discovery through early clinical stages.
Responsibilities
- Support physico-chemical characterization and formulation development of protein or small molecule drug candidates
- Execute routine experiments and data interpretation under appropriate technical guidance
- Develop and apply pharmaceutical science principles in laboratory environment following safety and environmental compliance
- Identify and troubleshoot issues with procedures, data, or instrumentation to improve scientific understanding
- Manage individual contributor deliverables while understanding overall project timelines
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with three years' experience or Master's degree in chemistry, biochemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, or related engineering discipline
- Ability to learn and apply new scientific principles to daily responsibilities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated data analysis and collation capabilities
- Strong organizational, technical problem-solving, and logistical abilities
- Ability to work collaboratively in fast-paced team environment
- Laboratory experience preferred; preclinical/clinical formulation development experience preferred
