The Market Director of Procurement is a senior field-based leader accountable for driving procurement execution at scale across a defined market of 50 to 100 ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) and surgical hospitals, often spanning multiple states. This role translates enterprise procurement / supply chain strategy into disciplined, measurable execution that delivers financial performance, operational efficiency, and scalable growth.
Partnering closely with Market Chief Financial Officers (MCFOs), Market Chief Strategy Officers (MCSOs), Regional Vice Presidents (RVPs), and Tenet / USPI Corporate Procurement leadership, the Market Director of Procurement owns procurement-related outcomes across market expansion, facility optimization, and ongoing operations. The role is highly visible, with frequent engagement across market leadership and corporate executives.
This role requires a strong problem-solving and analytical mindset, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights that drive accountability, support field operations, and enable consistent execution across a diverse, geographically dispersed portfolio. The position also provides indirect leadership to a broad Materials Management organization that can exceed 100 FTEs within a given market.
This position will be for Southeastern US territory; ideal candidates would be located near a major airport in Florida or the Southeast.
Responsibilities
Drive Execution & Financial Performance at Scale

- Translate enterprise initiatives into repeatable, field-executable processes that scale efficiently across 50 to 100 facilities.
- Lead market-level procurement / supply chain performance improvement initiatives, including utilization optimization, purchased services, and capital allocation efficiency.
- Partner with MCFOs and MCSOs to align procurement strategies with EBITDA targets and service line growth priorities.
Enforce Standardization, Governance, and Contract Compliance
- Ensure facility-level adherence to Tenet / USPI procurement standards, including GPO compliance, contract / preferred vendor alignment, and capital approval guardrails.
- Drive adoption of standardized supply and capital templates by service line to enable consistency, speed, and pricing integrity across facilities.
- Serve as the market escalation point for new technologies, vendor performance, pricing discrepancies, and contract execution issues.
Operationalize Data-Driven Performance Management
- Utilize established enterprise scorecard metrics (e.g., GPO compliance, inventory on hand, EDI utilization, accrual performance, usage module adoption) to drive actions, enforce accountability, and prioritize interventions.
- Lead regular market and facility-level materials management performance reviews with facility and market leadership, translating data into clear actions and measurable outcomes.
- Foster a culture of continuous performance and process improvement, ensuring sustained gains and operational discipline across the market.
Enable Market Growth, Development, and Integration
- Lead procurement execution post-go-live for de novos, new acquisitions, and facility expansions, ensuring on-time, on-budget activation and operational readiness.
- Partner with Development, Clinical Operations, Facilities, and Market Leadership stakeholders to streamline procurement training workflows and remove execution barriers.
- Ensure seamless onboarding and integration of new facilities into USPI procurement systems, contracts, and operating standards.
Lead, Develop, and Scale Field Procurement Capabilities
- Provide leadership, direction, and oversight to facility Materials Managers and broader Materials Management teams across the market.
- Exercise indirect leadership over a distributed workforce of up to 100+ Materials Management function FTEs, ensuring alignment to enterprise priorities, execution standards, and performance expectations.
- Support hiring, onboarding, and development of Materials Management talent to build a scalable, high-performing field organization, including deployment of regional management models.
- Establish clear operating rhythms, communication cadences, and market-level procurement governance structures to drive consistency and accountability.
Stakeholder Engagement & Executive Visibility
- Serve as a key liaison between Tenet / USPI Corporate Procurement, market leadership, and facility operators.
- Maintain strong partnerships with Market Presidents, MCFOs, MCSOs, and RVPs to drive alignment and execution.
- Communicate progress, risks, and opportunities with clarity to senior leadership, enabling timely decision-making

Who We Are
We are a community built on care. Our caregivers and supporting staff extend compassion to those in need, helping to improve the health and well-being of those we serve, and provide comfort and healing. Your community is our community.
Our Story
We started out as a small operation in California. In May 1969, we acquired four hospitals, some additional care facilities and real estate for the future development of hospitals. Over the years, we've grown tremendously in size, scope and capability, building a home in new markets over time, and curating those homes to provide a compassionate environment for those entrusting us with their care.
We have a rich history at Tenet. There are so many stories of compassionate care; so many "firsts" in terms of medical innovation; so many examples of enhancing healthcare delivery and shaping a business that is truly centered around patients and community need. Tenet and our predecessors have enabled us to touch many different elements of healthcare and make a difference in the lives of others.
Our Impact Today
Today, we are leading health system and services platform that continues to evolve in lockstep with community need. Tenet's operations include three businesses - our hospitals and physicians, USPI and Conifer Health Solutions.
Our impact spreads far and deep with 65 hospitals and approximately 510 outpatient centers and additional sites of care. We are differentiated by our top notch medical specialists and service lines that are tailored within each community we serve. The work Conifer is doing will help provide the foundation for better health for clients across the country, through the delivery of healthcare-focused revenue cycle management and value-based care solutions.
Together as an enterprise, we work to save lives and can accept nothing less than excellence from ourselves in service of our patients and their families, every day.
Careers at Tenet
At Tenet Healthcare, the heart of what we do centers on caring with compassion, which ultimately creates a bond between our caregivers and patients. Everyone contributes to these moments, whether providing care directly or supporting those who do.
As an organization, we provide employees with resources, tools and support to serve our patients and customers in the best way possible. We also take care of one another, helping team members further develop their career pathways and maximize their potential.
