Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Post Partum Duration: 26 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years of experience required License: Valid state license required Certifications: BLS, NRP Must-Have: - Previous charge experience preferred - Experience with blood/blood products administration - Experience with drains, epidural pumps, PCA pumps, syringe pumps, and wound vacs - Knowledge of heparin, insulin, magnesium sulfate - Experience in OB-GYN and post-operative care - Ability to manage postpartum readmissions and normal newborn care including thermoregulation and glucose management Description: The role requires providing care to patients post-vaginal or cesarean delivery, including tubal ligation and circumcision. Duties include support for GYN surgeries and couplet care, as well as management of low-risk antepartum patients. Nursing responsibilities encompass postpartum re-admission and care for normal newborns. Skills required include postpartum discharge teaching for parents, infant identification, and newborn assessment. Knowledge of phototherapy, thermoregulation, and newborn hypoglycemia management is essential. The position requires post-epidural management and pain assessment and management, including the use of PCA. Responsibilities also include bladder assessment and Foley catheter insertion, as well as breastfeeding instruction and perineum care. Experience with vaginal delivery and cesarean section is necessary, along with the ability to manage postpartum hemorrhage and pregnancy-induced hypertension. Floating between units may be required to meet staffing needs. Weekend work is required to ensure proper staffing levels. Additional duties may involve assisting with patient transfers to higher levels of care when needed. Strong communication and team collaboration skills are essential for success in this role.
