This role reports to the Project Manager, with weekly travel to the project site. Relocation support will be provided for candidates outside of the Austin, TX area that wish to apply.The Assistant Project Manager will lead permitting strategy and execution, manage relationships with regulatory bodies at all levels of government, support project delivery and construction oversight activities, and ensure the project maintains full compliance throughout its lifecycle. Acting as the owner's representative team, this role will protect the project owner's interests by coordinating and overseeing the performance of EPC contractor, consultants, and third-party service providers throughout project execution.Key ResponsibilitiesProject Controls & Cross-Functional SupportOverall project coordination and delivery management.Monitoring and tracking project deliverables, commitments, and obligations across different agreements.Supporting the Project Manager in the planning, execution, and delivery of project activities.Driving project execution and monitoring progress to ensure timely achievement of project objectives and milestones.Track construction milestones and the supervision activities carried out by the Owner's Engineer.Manage all documentation related to construction activities (engineering, QA/QC, inspections).Track project contractual obligations and ensure compliance with all contractual requirements.Track permitting milestones, associated budgets, and document quality throughout the project lifecycle.Support the Project Manager on environmental and overall permitting status as needed.Stakeholder & Regulatory ManagementManage relationships with local, state, and federal regulatory bodies.Coordinate with the Project Manager, environmental teams and external consultants, and legal counsel to ensure comprehensive compliance with environmental laws and other regulatory requirements.Interact with all relevant stakeholders to facilitate the registration and regulatory interconnection process (e.g., County Office, ERCOT, PUCT, NERC, etc.).Respond to internal and external environmental and permitting-related inquiries.Permitting Strategy & ExecutionLead the development and implementation of permitting strategies for the project, ensuring timely acquisition of all required permits.Prepare and submit permit applications, monitor their progress, and address any compliance issues that arise.Navigate and lead the permitting process in dynamic regulatory environments.Minimize the company's permitting risk and liability.QualificationsBachelor's degree in an Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.3-5 years of experience in renewable energy, engineering, construction, project management, or a related field.Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and guidelines applicable to renewable energy development.Demonstrated experience developing projects through complex permitting environments.Demonstrated experience interacting with government agencies at local, state, and federal levels.Experience monitoring compliance and maintaining rigorous documentation through the project lifecycle.Experience working collaboratively in a cross-functional and culturally diverse team environment.Professional QualitiesStrong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across internal teams and external agencies.Ability to develop and implement effective permitting strategies in complex regulatory environments.Skilled at managing multiple workstreams simultaneously under deadline pressure.Effective negotiator with the ability to build and sustain regulatory relationships.Meticulous attention to detail in permit application preparation and compliance documentation.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Motivated self-starter with a goal-oriented mindset and flexibility to adapt in dynamic environments.Commitment to continuous improvement.Seize the challenge.
