Design, generate, and apply product labeling that supports accurate identification and traceability. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Incoming Inspection • Perform receiving inspection of purchased components, printed circuit boards (PCBs), raw materials, and outside-processed parts against purchase orders, engineering drawings, bills of material (BOMs), and specifications. • Verify part number, revision, quantity, manufacturer, and date/lot codes, and confirm required documentation such as Certificates of Conformance (C of C) and material certifications. • Inspect incoming components and bare boards for physical damage, correct markings, and workmanship using appropriate magnification; apply IPC-A-600 acceptance criteria to bare printed boards. • Verify that moisture-sensitive devices (MSDs) are properly packaged, labeled, and logged in accordance with J-STD-033, and confirm ESD-safe packaging on all electrostatic-sensitive items. • Perform dimensional inspection using calipers, micrometers, optical comparators, and other precision measuring instruments. • Inspect to approved sampling plans (e.g., ANSI/ASQ Z1.4) and record results in the ERP/quality system. • Identify, tag, and segregate nonconforming incoming material and initiate nonconformance records. Final Inspection (Prior to Shipment) • Perform final/outgoing inspection of completed electronic assemblies against work orders, drawings, and customer requirements using IPC-A-610 (Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies) acceptance criteria at the customer-specified class. • Inspect solder joints, component placement, orientation, and polarity to IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 (Requirements for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies) workmanship standards. • Verify conformal coating, cleanliness, hardware installation, torque, and cosmetic requirements as applicable to the product. • Confirm serialization, traceability, and all required records (travelers, test and inspection data, C of C) are complete and accurate before product release. • Verify that final packaging, ESD protection, and shipping labels meet customer and order requirements. • Perform and document First Article Inspection (FAI) on new or changed products. • Hold, tag, and segregate nonconforming product; document findings and support Material Review Board (MRB) disposition. General Quality Duties • Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, BOMs, work instructions, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T). • Apply labels to product, sub-assemblies, and packaging in the correct location and orientation per drawings and work instructions as needed. • Perform in-process inspection at defined operations to detect defects early and prevent escapes. • Maintain electrostatic discharge (ESD) control practices at the inspection station in accordance with ANSI/ESD S20.20. • Verify and maintain the calibration status of assigned inspection, measuring, and test equipment; remove out-of-calibration gauges from service. • Accurately document inspection results and maintain quality records in the ERP/quality system (e.g., Epicor). • Support root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action, and participate in continuous improvement activities. • Communicate quality issues and trends promptly to the Quality Manager and production supervision. • Support the ISO 9001:2015 quality management system and adhere to all quality procedures and work instructions. Primary Function: The Quality Inspector performs hands-on inspection of incoming material, in-process work, and finished electronic assemblies to verify conformance to customer, regulatory, and workmanship requirements before product is released to the next operation or shipped to the customer. The role also designs and applies product labeling that supports accurate identification and traceability. Success in this position is defined by accurate and timely accept/reject dispositions, complete and traceable quality records, and the prevention of nonconforming product reaching the customer.
