This full-time contract position offers a unique opportunity within the Pupil Appraisal Department, focusing on critical assessments for special education eligibility rather than traditional direct services. You’ll collaborate closely with a dynamic team—including school psychologists and educational diagnosticians—contributing meaningfully to student success across 2-3 local schools.

Key Qualifications & Experience:

• Active Louisiana Department of Education certification and valid professional license are required
• Previous experience as a school social worker with knowledge of pupil appraisal or educational evaluations
• Ability to conduct student evaluations, re-evaluations, testing, and monitor interventions
• Excellent organizational skills for managing itinerant schedules across multiple school sites
• Comfortable participating in SBLC/ABIT meetings and coordinating with interdisciplinary teams
• Background check (fingerprinting) and drug screening in compliance with school district and agency standards
• Flexibility and adaptability to quickly respond to a pre-term backfill need

Core Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive assessments to determine student eligibility for special education services
• Participate actively in intervention meetings and maintain communication with staff and families
• Monitor interventions and coordinate evaluations as part of ongoing appraisal processes
• Travel between 2-3 assigned schools, providing expertise and support across campuses
• Collaborate with psychologists and educational diagnosticians for student-focused solutions
