Job Title Billing Technician Location Virginia Beach, VA, US Organization Name Billing Work Schedule and Other Information HRSD is seeking a detail-oriented and team-focused Billing Technician for our Customer Care Center billing team. This role supports accurate and timely billing for customers across multiple localities. The Billing Technician reviews billing data for accuracy, researches account discrepancies, and works with internal teams and locality partners. Responsibilities include verifying usage and consumption, confirming account information, processing billing adjustments, and verifying financial transactions. This position requires strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and clear communication. Candidates will work with data, document findings, and collaborate in a fast-paced environment.


Work hours are Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week, 8 hours per day, flexible between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM, off weekends and standard holidays. The position has a designation of hybrid (primarily working from home).
Brief Description Under limited guidance, the Billing Technician is responsible for supporting the Customer Care Center by ensuring accurate, timely wastewater treatment billing by calculating and processing financial transactions and maintaining accurate customer records through data validation across multiple billing systems. Position ensures consistent revenue generation by reconciling data discrepancies, collaborating with localities, resolving any data anomalies and billing corrections within the Oracle Utilities Customer Care and Billing (CC&B) system. HRSD handles ~500,000 active customer accounts for 20 counties and cities throughout the service area, all with unique billing practices. Job Requirements
Education

Required

• High school diploma or GED equivalent

Experience


Required

• 2-3 years of customer service and general office operations

Desired

• 2 years of account management and billing system experience

Licenses and Certifications Requirements

• Valid driver's license from state of residence
